“I feel like my parenting style is very similar to how I was raised even though the term attachment parenting wasn’t coined then. My parents were open and honest with me. My feelings were listened to and respected. There wasn’t physical discipline. I feel like it’s difficult to explain to child that it’s okay for mommy and daddy to hit you, but you can’t hit someone else. Talk about confusing. I went everywhere with my parents. My brother wasn’t born until I was nearly 11. I helped with him and saw the reality of what it means to have a child. It’s not easy. It certainly wasn’t sugar coated for me. Maybe that’s why I waited so long to have a child. It was an invaluable experience I’m glad I had.”
