“If you are constantly looking in the mirror and pointing out your flaws, your daughter sees that…”

“I feel an immense amount of pressure being the mother of a daughter. I tell my daughter constantly that she is pretty. While it is a nice compliment, I don’t want her to begin to think that is the only thing I love about her. I try to make an effort to give her specific compliments about things she has done or for trying new things. I think it is especially important for mothers of daughters to be a good role model. If you are constantly looking in the mirror and pointing out your flaws, your daughter sees that. It teaches her that it’s ok to pick on herself. I hope that my daughter will grow up thinking that strong, smart, confident, and independent are all qualities that make a woman beautiful.”
